Got cramps? get chamomile

Sipping chamomile tea may ease more than your mind: The mild, flowery brew could help soothe the pain of menstrual cramps, according to new research from the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. For two weeks, 14 study participants drank five cups of chamomile tea each day and provided daily urine samples. Those samples bad elevated levels of glycine, an amino acid that's been shown to relieve muscle spasms and relax the uterus.

Chamomile tea could even help ward off colds, since participants' urine samples also showed high levels of a compound linked to increased antibacterial activity.
