How does sun-sensitivity affect an individual with lupus?

Sun-sensitivity can be quite dangerous. Lupus patients should not go in the sun or be exposed to ultraviolet light. Exposed patients can suffer a terrible flare of the disease. They may develop signs of local disease in the skin such as rash, blisters, or redness with ulcerations. But even more serious is generalized disease due to sun-sensitivity, which causes high fever, fatigue, and joint pains.
