Homeopathic Treatment of Glaucoma

A ten-year old Lhasa Apso presented with glaucoma in the right eye which had been previously unsuccessfully treated with allopathic medications. The dog had photophobia and photosensitivity with acute pain and total blindness in the right eye. Treatment was begun with two weekly injections of Belladonna-Homaccord(R) and two daily doses of the same medication orally. In addition, local cleansing was performed with tincture of Euphrasia diluted in distilled water. After four weeks, the injections were reduced to once weekly and the oral administration was stopped. Topical cleansing with Euphrasia was continued for another 8 weeks, at which time the glaucoma was totally stabilized with no occurrence of elevated pressure. The author recommends monthly controls to ensure no recurrence of increased ocular tension.
