Abstract:The article offers significant approaches in the prevention of metabolic syndrome, a health condition identified with metabolic abnormalities including abdominal obesity, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and high blood glucose levels. Results of studies show that metabolic problems contribute to higher risks of colon cancer and heart disease. Preventive measures include eating nuts and observing the Mediterranean diet which is characterized by high intake of cereals, fruits and vegetables.
