Abstract:The article reports on the association between genetic composition and anxiety. Results of a study show that genetic composition has something to do with the person's tendency toward anxiety. People carrying common variation of genes regulating the neurotransmitter dopamine have an exaggerated startle reflex when viewing unpleasant pictures. Moreover, people who find it harder to regulate emotional arousal is due to the combination of sensitivity and heredity making them more prone to anxiety.
