Abstract:The article reports on a study on the relationship between psychological stress and disease conducted by a research team at the University of California in San Francisco. The team have found that prolonged, psychological stress contributes to cellular aging. The researchers measured telomere length, telomerase activity, oxidative stress levels in peripheral blood mononucleocytes and the women's perceptions of their own stress level using a standardized, 10-item questionnaire.
