VITAMIN A -- Therapeutic use

Abstract:The article focuses on the influences of dietary factors and nutritional factors on acne vulgaris. A study reveals that high-glycemic-load carbohydrates provoke hyperinsulinemia and that hyperinsulinemia initiates a hormonal cascade favoring unregulated tissue growth. It notes that most clinical interest in medicine has been generated by work with vitamin A and its derivatives. It was found out that plasma/serum and skin vitamin A levels may be lower in acne patients than in normals.
